This interactive training will introduce participants to screening and assessment for Gambling Disorder among clients seeking mental health or addiction treatment. This training is Part II of a two-part series. Part II focuses on assessment for Gambling Disorder. In this training, participants will learn what steps to take after a client screens positive for Gambling Disorder, including conducting an assessment. Participants will learn how to assess clients for Gambling Disorder using the DSM-5 criteria and will become familiar with best practices for assessment for Gambling Disorder.

Instructor Bios
Instructor #1: Kira Landauer, MPH; Technical Assistance Coordinator for the Massachusetts Technical Assistance Center for Problem Gambling Treatment and Community Health Educator at the Division on Addiction at Cambridge Health Alliance. Ms. Landauer has developed and facilitated in-person and online training on a variety of topics pertaining to Gambling Disorder (including screening for Gambling Disorder) for Massachusetts social workers, mental health and addiction specialists, and healthcare specialists; Massachusetts Substance Use Helpline staffers; peer recovery specialists and support staff; and members of support groups for family and friends of loved ones experiencing addiction. Ms. Landauer manages Gambling Disorder Screening Day – an international grassroots movement started by the Division on Addiction at Cambridge Health Alliance to support and encourage providers (including social workers) to screen clients for Gambling Disorder.
Instructor #2: Heather Sumba, MS; Technical Assistance Coordinator for the Massachusetts Technical Assistance Center for Problem Gambling Treatment and Senior Associate on the Strategic Planning & Organizational Effectiveness team at Health Resources in Action. Ms. Sumba has over 10 years of experience in the non-profit sector, primarily in administration and operations supporting organizational growth. Ms. Sumba currently provides technical assistance for problem gambling treatment to multiple outpatient sites, which includes developing and promoting problem gambling-related material for Massachusetts, social workers, mental health and addiction specialists, healthcare specialists, and peer recovery specialists and support staff.
Instructor #3: Glimar Rodriguez Parrilla, LADCI, LCSW. Ms. Rodriguez Parrilla brings over 16 years of experience in various medical and social service positions in behavioral health care. In her current role as a Program Manager at Boston ASAP, she is responsible for the development, implementation and oversight of the systems used to provide services in support of day-to-day operations. Ms. Rodriguez Parrilla also provides clinical services through the various program offered in the Community Clinic. She earned her B.A in Social Psychology from University of Massachusetts Boston, and Masters in Clinical Social Work from Simmons University. For the past 11 years, she has dedicated her direct service practice in the field of mental health and substance use to at-risk and high need populations through the continuum of care from inpatient transitional services to community services and engagement. And for the past 7 years, she has been credentialed in various training curricula for clinicians and employees within other community partners agencies, the Community Clinic, as well as The Champions Network (Doc Wayne).

- American Psychological Association (APA) – The Division on Addiction is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Division on Addiction maintains responsibility for this program and its content. This program offers 1 continuing education credits.
- National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) – This course has been approved by the Division on Addiction, as a NAADAC Approved Education Provider, for 1.0 CE. NAADAC Provider #84058, the Division on Addiction is responsible for all aspects of the programing.
- National Association of Social Workers (NASW) – This program has been approved for 1.0 Social Work Continuing Education hours for relicensure, in accordance with 258 CMR. NASW-MA Chapter CE Approving Program, Authorization Number D 92179-2.
- Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) – The Massachusetts Technical Assistance Center for Problem Gambling Treatment is authorized by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health to sponsor, conduct or approve continuing education programs for alcohol and drug counselors/assistants (LADCs).
