Conference Theme

Equity in Action: Working Together to Mitigate Harms Across the Commonwealth

The conference will highlight a public health approach to problem gambling. Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Understand the concept of equity, engagement, and empowerment.
  • Explore ways to implement equity, engagement, and empowerment throughout the keynote, presentations, workshops, and information tables.
  • Identify ways to incorporate equity, engagement, and empowerment into their roles and organizations in order to mitigate harms associated with gambling.

About the Stipend Opportunity

Awardees will receive a stipend of up to $500, which can be used to cover any/all of the following expenses to support conference attendance:  

  • Staff time to attend the conference
  • Travel expenses to/from the conference (mileage, tolls, transit costs, hotel accommodations, etc.)
  • Conference registration fee ($20)

Awardees will be greeted by the M-TAC/PBU team on the morning of the conference, and will receive a swag bag filled with program branded products!


This is a great opportunity to meet individuals who are working toward advancing the public health response to problem gambling while leading with equity.

About the Application

Who can participate?

  • Professionals who work in Massachusetts, and are interested in learning more about problem gambling treatment and recovery.
  • Priority will be given to geographic and professional representation.
  • Please note, Commonwealth of Massachusetts employees are not eligible for this stipend.

Important Steps for Awardees

Step 1 – Save the date on your calendar to attend the conference on May 17, 2024 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, at the Four Points by Sheraton in Norwood.

Step 2 – Register to attend the conference by May 3rd, 2024 (registration link).

Step 3 – On the day of the conference, awardees will be asked by a M-TAC team member to complete a brief form in order to process the stipend.

Final Step – Stipends will be issued by May 31, 2024. *Please note, in order to receive the stipend, awardees must attend and participate in the full conference.
