The Worldwide Addiction Gambling Education Report (The WAGER) Microlearning Course – Module 5

The Worldwide Addiction Gambling Education Report (The WAGER) Microlearning Course is a free educational opportunity consisting of 6, 1-hour modules that offer allied health professionals the opportunity to learn more about gambling-related research and its implications for treatment and public health.

The Brief Addiction Science Information Source (The BASIS) is an online blog published by the Division on Addiction that summarizes current, peer-reviewed addiction research into short science reviews. The goal of The BASIS is to increase addiction awareness and reduce stigma. Every four weeks, The BASIS reviews a current gambling research article. This series of gambling reviews is known as The Worldwide Addiction Gambling Education Report (The WAGER). Each module of this course corresponds with The WAGER science reviews for a given calendar year, spanning from 2016 (Volume 21) to 2021 (Volume 26).

M-TAC developed this training to build professional capacity among health providers who are working with or are interested in working with patients/clients/community members experiencing gambling-related problems. Each module includes 12 science reviews from The WAGER and one quiz question per review.

Module Introduction

Module 5 covers The WAGER publications from 2020 (Volume 25). This module includes science reviews that address topics such as problem gambling and criminal activity, incorporating routine problem gambling screening into clinical practice, evidence-based safe gambling practices, and much more.
