SUMMARY:Introduction to Gambling Disorder Treatment Best Practices
DESCRIPTION:This training counts toward the MA PGS Certificate Clinical Core Competency Coursework \nThis interactive webinar will go over the most scientifically-supported treatment for gambling disorder\, provide tips for CBT and Motivational Interviewing\, and allow clinicians to practice talking about problem gambling with a client. \nAs a reminder\, this training will be interactive\, and we would love to hear from you! Please come prepared to share and ask questions\, and we ask that\, if possible\, your cameras remain on during the training. \nCEUs are available through this training! \nPsychologists: \n\nAmerican Psychological Association (APA) – The Division on Addiction is approved by the APA to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Division on Addiction maintains responsibility for this program and its content. This program offers 1.5 continuing education credits.\n\nCounselors: \n\nThe Division on Addiction has been approved by National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) as an Approved Continuing Education Provider\, ACEP No. 6121. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. The Division on Addiction is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.\n\nAddiction Specialists: \n\nThe Division on Addiction is a National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) Approved Education Provider (provider number 396).\n\nSocial Workers: \n\nThis program has been approved for 1.5 Social Work Continuing Education hours for re-licensure\, in accordance with 258 CMR. NASW-MA Chapter CE Approving Program\, Authorization Number D 91043-2.\n\nLicensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors: \n\nMA Technical Assistance Center for Problem Gambling Treatment is authorized by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health to sponsor\, conduct or approve continuing education programs for alcohol and drug counselors/assistants (LADCs).\n\n  \nThe traditional structure of the Introduction to Gambling Disorder Treatment Best Practices training will be offered on Thursday\, November 17\, 2022. Additionally we will provide this training on Wednesday\, April 26\, 2023 using a flipped classroom model. The flipped classroom model is sometimes referred to as “active learning” where participants engage with educational content to learn basic knowledge and key concepts of the training topic prior to attending the training. This educational content could be in the form of watching videos\, reading research articles\, and preparing discussion questions. \nParticipants are expected to complete all pre-training work and will receive CEU credit for both their pre-training work and time attending the training. The estimated time for pre-training work (45 minutes) and the live training content (45 minutes) will equal a combined total of 90 minutes\, (1.5 CEU credits). As a result of adapting this model\, we are setting a higher expectation for participants and anticipate that they will come to the training prepared to engage in creative discussion\, ideally with cameras on and microphones functioning. We are pleased to offer both approaches (traditional on Thursday\, November 17\, 2022 and flipped on Wednesday\, April 26\, 2023) and recommend that learners choose the approach that best fits their need
